Husband of former mayor and BRS leader attacked by autorickshaw driver over land dispute in Nizamabad – Telangana News

The husband of former Mayor and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader Dandu Neethu Kiran, Dandu Chandrasekhar, was brutally attacked by an autorickshaw driver on Monday in Telangana’s Nizamabad. The assault, which occurred near the office of a local corporator, left Chandrasekhar with severe head injuries. He was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

The Nizamabad Police have identified the assailant as Shaik Rasool, an autorickshaw driver, who reportedly attacked Chandrasekhar following a heated argument over a land dispute. A case has been registered against Rasool, and authorities are actively investigating the matter.

In a video statement following the attack, Rasool confessed to the assault, claiming that his actions were driven by frustration over a land issue. He accused Chandrasekhar of encroaching on his property and demanding Rs 2 lakh in compensation. Rasool further alleged that Gopal, a close associate of Chandrasekhar, was part of a gang involved in land grabbing.

“For three years, my land has been under their illegal occupation. Despite repeated pleas to release it, I was met with threats. When I approached Chandrasekhar today to resolve the issue, I was insulted. In a moment of rage, I retaliated. If I hadn’t acted, I feared for my life,” Rasool explained in his video statement.

Rasool, identifying himself as a Congress supporter, appealed to the party’s leadership to intervene and assist him in reclaiming his land. Further investigation into the attack and the underlying land dispute is underway.
